Akshaya Tritiya is the third day of Shukla Paksha in Vaishakh month, according to Hindu religion. In 2022, Akshaya Tritiya is observed today on May 3rd. Tritiya Tithi began at 5:19 a.m. on May 3 and end at 7.33 a.m. on May 4. This year, on Akshaya Tritiya, a remarkable alignment of planets occurs for the first time in 50 years. Venus will be in Pisces and the Moon will be in Taurus.

In every section of the country, the festival of Akshaya Tritiya is known and celebrated under various names. Many types of stories is linked to this festival. According to legend, Lord Vishnu, the earth’s guardian, took the form of Parashurama on this day, and so this day is known as Parshuram Jayanti.

Importance of Akshaya Tritiya

The rewards of charity and noble deeds performed on Akshaya Tritiya are never destroyed, according to Hindu holy literature. On Akshaya Tritiya, getting married, buying gold, and worshipping Goddess Lakshmi have special significance. There is also a belief that Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi should be worshipped on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya. On this day, religiously worshipping Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi yields the desired outcomes.

Gold Purchase tradition during Akshaya Tritiya

Every year on Akshaya Tritiya, the tradition of purchasing gold jewellery is followed. Gold purchased on this day is seen to be a symbol of happiness, wealth, and good fortune. It is said that gold purchased or invested on this day will never expire. It is also said that the gold is purchased by Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi themselves on Akshaya Tritiya day to protect it.
