Centre Approves COVID Vaccine for 12-14 Age Group in India

The Central Government has now decided to include children in the age group of 12 to 14 years under the anti-coronavirus vaccination programme. Also, everyone over the age of 60 can now take a booster dose.

Children’s Safety is Country’s Safety 

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced this by tweeting on Monday. He told that from March 16, children of 12 to 14 years old will also get the vaccine. Urging the families of children and people above 60 years of age to take the vaccine, the Union Minister said, “Children are safe and the country is safe. I am happy to inform you that from March 16, anti-corona vaccination of children in the age group of 12 -13 and 13 -14 is starting. Also, everyone above the age of 60 years will be able to get the precaution dose.

COVID Vaccine used for the age group between 12-14?

Corbevax, which is manufactured by Biological-E in Hyderabad, will be used to inoculate children in this age group, according to the Health Ministry. Corbevax is the first Receptor Binding Domain (RBD) protein sub-unit vaccine produced in India. Corbevax was given emergency use authorization by India’s medication regulatory agency on February 21 for children aged 12 to 18.

Earlier immunization of adolescents of 15-17 years was started

It is noteworthy that from the beginning of this year, the government started immunization of adolescents in the age group of 15-17 years. Along with this, it was announced to give precaution dosage to people above 60 years of age.

Condition of the virus in the country

So far more than 180 crore anti-corona vaccines have been administered in the country. Currently, there are 36,168 active cases of coronavirus in India. This is the lowest in 675 days. In the last 24 hours, 2,503 new cases have been reported, which is the lowest figure in the last 680 days.
