Kids and teenagers between the ages of two and 18 have been confirmed to be safe and responsive to the anti-coronavirus vaccination Covaxin from Bharat Biotech. In Phase II and III studies, the company asserted on Friday that its Covid vaccine has shown to be child-safe, child-tolerable and immunity-boosting.
Dr. Krishna Ella, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech said that “We are happy to report that Covaxin has now shown data-proven safety and immunogenicity in children. The safety of vaccinations for children is vital. Our objective has been accomplished. Both adults and children can now get a COVID-19 vaccine that is both secure and efficient. In the form of a main immunisation and booster dose, we have been able to make it a universal vaccine.

This Covaxin trial, according to Bharat Biotech, is perfectly safe for the age group between 2-18 years. The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal has published it. On healthy kids and teenagers between the ages of 2 and 18, covaxin was tested. This vaccine has been discovered to be highly immunogenic in this experiment, which was done between June and September 2021. In October 2021, data from the study was provided to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO). After that, kids between the ages of 6 and 18 were permitted to use it for emergency use.
No Major Side Effects in children between 2-18 years
The company carried out Phase II and III trials to determine the safety of administering the Covaxin vaccination to healthy children and adolescents between the ages of 2 and 18. What will happen when they respond, and how will that impact their immunity were questions raised during the trails. The investigation found no harmful side effects. There were 374 recorded incidents of side effects in total, most of which were minor and vanished within a day.
