Hey Guys, Welcome to FactsMinister. Today we will show you the top five eye care tips for healthy eyes.
Your eyes are not only one of the most important Organs you have, but they’re also one of the most sensitive parts of your body. So it’s crucial to take care of them. Luckily, with these five eye care tips for healthy eyes, you can keep them in tip-top shape and feeling great all the time!
1) Avoid artificial lighting
Artificial lighting like desktop monitors and cell phones can hurt your eyes. Try to go outside and look at nature whenever possible. Artificial lighting is also linked to sleep disturbances, which aren’t good for your vision either. Make sure you get 8 hours of sleep every night to keep your eyes healthy.
2) Avoid close up screens
Not only can staring at a screen cause headaches, eye strain and dry eyes, but it can also damage your vision. As far as your eyes are concerned, staring at anything less than 20 feet away is close-up. That includes smartphones and tablets—even if you’re doing something as simple as reading an email. To keep your eyes healthy, make sure to give them a break from all things close up at least once every 20 minutes or so by focusing on something more distant. You might not think it makes a difference—but trust us, it does!
3) Eat well
Eating a balanced diet is essential to eye health. Your daily meals should include fruits and vegetables, legumes, whole grains, lean meats and fish, olive oil and nuts. Omega-3 fatty acids are particularly important since they reduce inflammation in your eyes. If you don’t like fish or you prefer to supplement your diet with plant-based omega-3s, ; either will help reduce inflammation and protect your eyes from disease.
4) Drink water
It may sound simple, but water is a big part of keeping your eyes healthy. The tissues in our eyes are surrounded by fluid; if you aren’t getting enough water, you won’t have enough fluid to keep your eyes healthy. Caffeine and alcohol can actually dehydrate your body, so they’re out as well. Plenty of fluids throughout the day are a great way to keep your vision sharp!
5) Get more sleep
Sleep is crucial to good vision. The more sleep you get, the healthier your eyes will be. Make sure you don’t skimp on those 8 hours—the extra time can really make a difference! Of course, getting your Zzzs isn’t just about looking better and preventing eye strain: a recent study from Harvard Medical School found that people who get less than 6 hours of sleep a night are four times more likely to develop glaucoma. And while it can take years before glaucomatous damage becomes noticeable, skipping out on sleep could put you at risk of developing it in your 20s! So if you want healthy eyes, start by giving them what they need most—plenty of shuteye.
