Analysis

With Siraj and Hazlewood in the powerplay and Harshal in the death, RCB appear to have a well-balanced bowling assault. Hasaranga, Shabaz, and Glenn Maxwell, their best buys, will handle the spin department. In the top six, RCB are missing a reliable off-spinner and a left-handed batsman. They have, however, acquired a number of brilliant uncapped Indians such as Luvnith Sisodia, Suyash Prabhudesai, Anuj Rawat, Mahipal Lomror, and Akash deep.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians purchased a total of 21 players among them 17 are Indians and 8 overseas[ retention included] . Currently they have just 5 lakhs left in their pocket in the IPL auction 2022 players list.

Analysis

After Day 1 of the auctions, MI had plenty of spots to fill with their limited money. They had a really bad first day, with the exception of Ishan Kishan. Champion teams, on the other hand, have a history of making comebacks, both on and off the field. They landed the exciting Tim David and added Tymal Mills, Riley Meredith, Jaydev Unadkat, and the biggest prize in Jofra Archer to their pace battery. Though Archer will not play in this edition, the Bumrah-Archer combination will be nearly unplayable in future seasons.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders bought 21 players in ipl auction 2022 among them 17 are Indians and 8 Overseas players [ retention included] Currently they have 45 lakhs in their purse in IPL auction 2022 players list.

Fast Bowlers: Tim Southee, Shivam Mavi, Umesh Yadav, Rasikh Dar, Ashok Sharma

Leg Spinner/Mystery bowler: Varun Chakravarthy

Analysis

On the first day, KKR pushed hard for Pat Cummins and Shreyas Iyer from the marquee list. They were successful in acquiring both of them, with Iyer being mentioned as a possible KKR captain. The franchise was involved in another vigorous bidding war, this time for Nitish Rana, with the same results. However, they were left with a small amount of money and a lot of gaps to fill. KKR’s Day 2 performance was even better, especially when clubs were required to submit a list of ‘interesting’ players, where they were able to get Nabi, Umesh, Hales, and Sri Lankan all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals bought 21 players in their squad among them 16 are Indians and 8 are overseas [retention included].Currently they have 95 lakhs in their purse in IPL auction 2022 players list.

Medium Pace All-Rounders: Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Anunay Singh

Fast Bowlers: Trent Boult, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Obed McCoy, Navdeep Saini, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldip Yadav, Kuldeep Sen

Leg Spinners: Yuzi Chahal, KC Cariappa, Tejas Baroka

Analysis

RR’s finest hand in the auctions was getting Ashwin and Chahal for a combined 11.5 crores. RR had no qualms about completing the remaining positions with Rassie, Neesham, Daryl Mitchell, and Coulter-Nile after picking only three overseas players until the last hour. Given the absence of power-hitters for the middle and death overs, they may attempt to put Buttler into the middle with Hetmyer. This creates a window of opportunity for Jaiswal and Devdutt.

Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans bought 20 players in their squad among them there are 15 Indians and 8 overseas [ Retention included].Currently they have 15 lakhs in their purse in IPL auction 2022 players list.

Fast Bowlers: Lockie Ferguson, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami, Varun Aaron, Yash Dayal

Spinners: Noor Ahmad, Sai Kishore

Analysis

During retentions, the debutants had already done a good job by signing the world’s finest leg-spinner Rashid Khan and the hard-hitting all-rounder Hardik Pandya. They may have gotten the best deal in Jason Roy, who has a base price of just 2 crores. One major blunder made by GT was failing to invest in a wicketkeeper. Lockie Ferguson, a Kiwi pacer, was their best buy and will be well supported by Mohammad Shami.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings bought 23 players in their squad among them 18 are Indians and 7 are overseas [ retention included].Currently they have 3.45 crores in their purse in IPL auction 2022 players list.

Leg Spinners: Rahul Chahar

Analysis

Punjab made a big splash on Day 1 by signing Shikhar Dhawan, a prolific southpaw, and Kagiso Rabada, the Proteas’ quick bowler. As a result, their opening batting and bowling combinations of Dhawan-Mayank and Arshdeep-Rabada were quickly settled. They extended their winning streak by signing Jonny Bairstow, one of the most dynamic wicketkeeper-batsmen in the game. Punjab have practically all bases covered, with Shahrukh Khan and Liam Livingstone providing punch in the middle order. It’s one of the most complete sides, with a leggie in Chahar, SLA in Brar, and an intriguing all-rounder in Odean Smith.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals bought 20 players among them 17 are Indians and 7 overseas [ retention included].Currently they have just 10 lakhs in their purse in IPL auction 2022 players list.

Fast Bowlers: Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Shardul Thakur, Chetan Sakariya, Khaleel Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman

Spinner: Kuldeep Yadav

Analysis

David Warner has returned to the place where it all began for him. The fast bowlers category was one area where DC was overly clever. DC added Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Lungi Ngidi, and the left-arm combination of Khaleel, Mustafizur, and Sakariya to replace Avesh and Rabada. KS Bharat, Sarfaraz Khan, and Mandeep Singh were assigned to the batting department. The spin department will be made up of Kuldeep Yadav and Vicky Ostwal. All of these purchases, including Yash Dhull, were made on the cheap and DC had no trouble obtaining them.

Lucknow Super Giants

Fast Bowlers: Avesh Khan, Mark Wood, Dushmantha Chameera, Ankit Rajpoot, Mohsin Khan, Mayank Yadav

Spinners: Ravi Bishnoi, Shahbaz Nadeem

Analysis

On Day 1, the new entrants were undoubtedly the greatest performers. In their first job, Gambhir and Andy Flower did not disappoint. With so many good options, Lucknow’s captain will be spoilt for choice, and his playing XI will be heavily influenced by the approach he chooses to employ. With QDK and Lewis, he already has two left-handed openers to pair with Rahul. Jason Holder, Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, and Stoinis are all all-rounders at his disposal, while the pace battery is evenly split between Mark Wood, Avesh Khan, Ankit Rajput, and Chameera.

SunRisers Hyderabad

SunRisers Hyderabad bought 20 players among them 16 are Indians and 7 are overseas.Currently they have 10 lakhs in their purse in IPL auction 2022 players list.

Spinners: Shreyas Gopal, J Suchith

Analysis

Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma, Kartik Tyagi, Suchith, and Rahul Tripathi were all signed on Day 1 by SRH, demonstrating their faith in young uncapped Indian players. They also managed to re-sign Bhuvi and Natarajan, who are currently out of form and fitness but have previously performed admirably for them. In the middle order, Pooran, Markram, and Abdul Samad will provide much-needed firepower, an area where they struggled last season. Romario Shepard and Marco Jansen have been added to the all-rounder roster, giving them even more depth.

Fast Bowlers: Deepak Chahar, Adam Milne, Tushar Deshpande, KM Asif, Simarjeet Singh, Mukesh Choudhary

Spinners: Maheesh Theekshana, Prashant Solanki

Analysis

CSK did what they always do in mega auctions: they tried to keep as many of their core players as possible. Except for Raina, they bid for practically every CSK player who participated in 2021, but they had to let go of their top overseas performers Faf du Plessis and Hazelwood, who were part of the champion 2021 squad, to RCB. CSK has once again placed a premium on seam bowling all-rounders. In this category, they chose U-19 phenomenon Rajvardhan Hangrekar, Shivam Dube, and Proteas all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius.
