Motorola has recently introduced the Motorola Edge 40 in India, following the launch of their budget-friendly Moto G-series phones. Claimed as the “world’s slimmest 5G smartphone with an IP68 rating,” the Edge 40 boasts several notable features, including MediaTek Dimensity’s 8020 SoC, wireless charging, and a competitive price tag. With an offering of 256GB internal storage, this smartphone aims to captivate consumers in the sub-Rs 30,000 segment.

Price and Availability.


Priced at Rs 29,999, the Motorola Edge 40 offers a single model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It is available in three colors: Reseda Green and Eclipse Black with a vegan leather finish, as well as Lunar Blue with a PMMA (acrylic glass) finish. Starting from May 30, the smartphone can be purchased through Flipkart, Motorola India channels, and partner stores such as Reliance Digital. Pre-orders are currently open on Flipkart.

Motorola-Jio Partnership.


Motorola has collaborated with Jio to provide customers with benefits worth Rs 3,100. These benefits include an additional 100GB of 5G data (10GB per month) valued at Rs 1,000, along with partner offers from Ajio, Ixigo, and ET Prime amounting to Rs 1,050.

Specifications.


The Motorola Edge 40 features a curved pOLED panel with a 6.5-inch Full-HD display and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. In terms of thickness, the vegan-finished variants measure 7.58mm, while the PMMA-finished variant is slightly slimmer at 7.49mm, making it one of the thinnest smartphones in its segment. The device supports HDR10+ and offers Amazon HDR and Netflix HDR playback capabilities.

The phone is equipped with a 50-megapixel primary camera featuring OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), accompanied by a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera with macro vision. On the front, there is a 32-megapixel camera. Both the rear and front cameras support 4K video recording at 30fps. Powering the Motorola Edge 40 is the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC, coupled with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage and 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM.

Additional features of the Edge 40 include 5G connectivity, a promised two years of Android updates, and a 4400mAh battery that supports 68W fast charging. The smartphone also supports 15W fast charging.
