The 94th Academy Awards held in the Dolby Theater of Los Angeles saw some crazy events which went viral all over the Internet. Chris Rock, who had just entered the stage, made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith’s wife. Will then got up from his seat and walked over to the stage, slapping Chris hard in the face. Will warned Rock not to say “my wife’s name” out loud. Chris Rock is a stand-up comedian from the United States. This slap is quite unusual but whether it’s scripted or real is not known. However, Smith apologized for his actions.
Apart from the slap controversy, a two-minute prayer was held in solidarity of Ukraine at this occasion. A plea was also issued for anyone who is able to come forward as well as defend/ support Ukraine in the war against Russia’s invasion.
The Oscars have been hosted without a presenter for the past three years. This year, the host made a triumphant return making history of three women hosting Oscars for the first time. This event was held by a group of three individuals :

Best Costume Design – Jenny Beavan- Cruella
India’s “Writing with Fire” Missed Best Documentary Feature Award
The Oscar for Best Documentary Feature went to The Summer of Soul. In this category, India’s official entry, Writing with Fire, was nominated. The documentary , however, was unsuccessful in obtaining the award. Rintu Thomas and Sushmita Ghosh directed and produced this documentary.
