Pilaf is a famous dish of Odisha. There are different types of Pilaf available in Odia cuisine. But generally, it is prepared by sauteing rice with different spices. Chakuli Pitha is a popular Odisha meal that is similar to a Dosa yet different. It’s made with a batter that’s made up of equal parts lentils (Urad Dal) and rice (soaked, ground and fermented for at least 5 hours). At times, black lentils (skinless) are substituted for Urad Dal. The batter is spread in a circular shape on a griddle or pan and cooked on both sides with mustard oil. Chakuli Pitha is softer than Dosa and has a thicker consistency.
