World Health Day: History and Importance

The 7th of April is a significant day in the realm of health. Every year on April 7th, World Health Day is commemorated. The corona epidemic has been spreading globally in recent years. The disease spread to nearly every country on the planet. In this situation, the World Health Organization has attempted to provide the best health services to the entire world at every level.

History of World Health Organization 

The World Health Organization (WHO) was constituted in 1948. It was chosen to commemorate World Health Day two years later, in 1950. The World Health Organization (WHO) took the initiative to mark this day as an importance of health around the world.

This organisation works to improve people’s health all across the globe. WHO collaborates with the United Nations, government health administrations, professional associations, and other organisations in the field of health. It Aids in the strengthening of health services around the world at the request of the country’s governments. It also encourages the participation of professional organisations and specialists to make health facilities accessible to all the people.

Importance of World Health Day 

The goal of World Health Day is to raise awareness about the need of having the same health facilities in all countries,  refute health related myths, and to reflect  and work on global health issues. On this day, public awareness initiatives about health services, facilities, and care are held.

Theme of World Health Day 2022

‘Our planet, our health’ is the theme for World Health Day 2022. The focus of this year’s topic is on the health of every human being on our planet.

On the occasion of World Health Day, India is holding a ‘Yoga Amrit Mahotsav,’ which is coordinated by the Ministry of AYUSH. ‘Building a Fair, Healthy World’ was the theme of World Health Day 2021.
