The 3rd of March is designated as World Wildlife Day to promote awareness to the world’s wild animals and flora. On December 20, 2013, at its 68th session, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared March 3 as UN World Wildlife Day. Commemorating the signing of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1973. It is now the most important annual event dedicated to wildlife acts in the world.
World Wildlife Day Theme 2022
“Recovering essential species for ecosystem restoration” is the topic of World Wildlife Day 2022. It focuses on the conservation of some of the world’s most endangered wild fauna and flora species. It’s also critical to focus talks on imagining and implementing conservation solutions to the major problems.
World Wildlife Day Significance
The day allows us to appreciate the many beautiful and diverse species of wild animals and flora that exist. As well as to raise awareness about the numerous benefits that their conservation brings to humanity. It also serves as a reminder that we must intensify our efforts to combat wildlife crime and human-caused extinctions. Both of which have negative economic, environmental, and societal consequences etc.
Why is it necessary to recover Key species?
Mammalian, bird, fish, amphibian, and reptile populations have plummeted by an incredible 70 percent since 1970. Natural habitats, on the other hand, are constantly degraded and exterminated. These two tendencies are linked in the sense of habitat degradation. Also loss can result in population decrease and, eventually, extinction.
In fact, particular species must be protected because of the brutality .The suffering that few species, such as tigers, rhinos, pangolins, elephants, and bears, face as a result of the demand for their body parts. However, we must not lose sight of the need of safeguarding and conserving. Strive hard, possibly preserving overall habitats and ecosystems in the process.
